About the Artist

Juhi Aggarwal was born in Delhi, India. Having inherited her father’s love for pencil sketching, her artistic ability grew tremendously. She started drawing at the age of two and continued as a hobby and won multiple art contests at school and college. She completed Bachelor’s in Commerce from University of Delhi, India and delved more into painting practice to polish the interest cultivated during her childhood.

Hercreation takes inspiration from contemporary art that isa mixture of delicacy and detailing. She believes to have personally gained lot of patience with this type of work. Artworks shecreate is mostly architectural embraced with nature with a focus on outdoors and natural topographies as she is most inspired by the fineness one can put into art to showcase the thin line between perception and experience. Her collection also includes predominant natural views, real or imaginary, as she feels close to nature that keeps painting for us and gives a ray of positivity.

Besides art self-practice, she received her PGPM in Finance from ICFAI University and worked as a Consultant with an MNC in Gurgaon. Since May 2018, she has been actively showcasing her artworks. Her paintings have been reviewed and selected by Contemporary Art Review- Average Art, Wotisart and A5 Magazines for featuring.

Delving into art professionally has been a passionate move for her. She keeps herself open to learning and experimenting. Oil and Acrylic are her primary mediums with a touch of mixed media to create 3D, 2D and fine paintings. She believes everyone extracts a different take away from the same picture and it is intentional on her part that she attempts to bring traditional fineness back into picture.

Concept - the Nature of Cities

It is the idea of “nature nearby”- that cities are not barren or nature deprived rather teen with life, both human and non-human. This nature provides services from storm water management to habitat to beauty. Indeed cities are an ecosystem of nature, people, form and space.

Earlier, cities used to be a natural and lively region. Land and water used to complement each other to provide an attractive environment. River was the mode of transportation while hinterland sourced food and water. Cities were appealing enough to live in as new developments were not done at the stake of environment. Hence, the environment was adaptive. With advancement in technology, our lives turned easy and we lost on the way to the future. Unknowingly, barriers between the city and nature were created. Cities became more urbanized abandoning natural habitat. Sometimes uncertain change in climate made it too hot or too cold. This had been affecting the economy as a whole. It was time to make a choice.

Constructing with nature is the solution. A healthy city is the one that has integration with nature so as to embrace the river and flora again as the lifeline. Getting back to roots is the idea to utilize everything that nature has to offer to us. With inclusion, cities have that extra allure and touch that it missed earlier. This makes life, work and leisure quite pleasant and healthy.

Cities nowadays have an emotional connect with nature. Street, buildings and infrastructure is created in line with environmental and economic efficiency. Green spaces have a tendency to contribute to public health, reduce stress and increase quality of health. We must incorporate both altogether instead of replacing one with other.

My Idea Behind the Concept

Destiny is something we build ourselves. We often plan and design to restructure our lives in a way to give a structural definition to this term. I have worked in line with this thought, as art is all about emotions, feelings, exploration and communication. My concept is an attempt to explore architectures and narrate a unique story that lies within each brick. Life which is a mixture of happiness and sorrow always comes up with something new that either makes you or breaks you. My idea behind choosing “Nature of Cities” as a concept is to throw some light on what it takes to plan and working to create something that would speak some or the other day.

Architecture is the process and the product of planning, designing, and constructingstructures. In the material form of buildings, such works are considered as cultural symbols and as works of art. If we go back in time, we would realize the fact behind why historical civilizations are today identified with their surviving architectural achievements. May be, it was just a design to them but they didn’t know it would be a piece of heritage later on. This is more or less similar to what we deal today. The materials used are the efforts we put in to construct a better life. If this doesn’t bear any fruits of success at present, they will surely have an impact on future because efforts never go wasted.

An architectural style is a characteristic feature that makes a structure identifiable which is inclusive of method of construction and building materials. Usually, the classification is based on the chronology of styles which change over time with change in fashions, beliefs and religions, or the emergence of new ideas and technology. Similarly, change in thoughts, mended ways, better planning and most importantly getting up after each failure and rebuilding is nothing but the style of the architect hidden inside us.

I learnt to adapt new ideas from everything that surrounds me and built structures on canvas with different textures and techniques. Architectures I painted stand robust and aesthetic because they tell a similar story of restructuring. My structures are usually embraced with nature as it is the most powerful element that gives positivity to start again after a bad failure in life. Hence, I believe whatever you build up, some or the other day, speaks.
